Temperature Regulation of Endogenous Gibberellin Activity and Development of Tulipa gesneriana L.
The changes in the contents of free and bound gibberellin-like activity (GA) of Tulipa gesneriana L. cv. Ralph during development under 2 temperature conditions were studied. The results show that the content of free GA of bulbs grown at 18 degrees increased by 67% over the initial level during development. The bound GA showed a slight initial increase and was followed by a rapid decrease. In c...
متن کاملRelease of arachidonic acid from human lymphocytes in response to mitogenic lectins
After exposure to mitogenic lectins in vitro, human mononuclear cells (95% lymphocytes) that had been prelabeled with [14C]arachidonic acid rapidly released a portion of their radioactivity in the medium. Most of the released radioactivity was demonstrated to be free arachidonic acid. Although other sources are not excluded, the most important source of cell-bound radioactivity in the release r...
متن کاملMitogenic activity of Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin in human peripheral lymphocytes.
Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin (CPE) was found to possess interferon (IFN)-producing and mitogenic activities to human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Both activities were demonstrated only in the T lymphocyte-rich fraction from healthy volunteers. The IFN produced appeared to be gamma-type since the activity of the IFN was neutralized by antiserum against human IFN-gamma. With formali...
متن کاملPurification and characterization of a tuliposide-converting enzyme from bulbs of Tulipa gesneriana.
An enzyme that catalyzes the stoichiometric conversion of 6-tuliposide into tulipalin was purified and characterized from bulbs of Tulipa gesneriana. The enzyme appeared to be a dimer, the relative molecular mass (Mr) of each subunit being 34,900; it had maximum activity and stability at neutral pH and moderate temperature. The enzyme preferentially acted on such glucose esters as 6-tuliposides...
متن کاملMitogenic effect of a novel animal lectin on human lymphocytes.
The mitogenic effect of the novel lectin prepared from an animal source on human lymphocytes was examined in comparison with that of phytohemagglutinin-p (PHA-p) by the uptake of 3H-thymidine. The uptake of 3H-thymidine by lymphoblasts was enhanced by the treatment with the lectin as well as with PHA-p, though the effect of the lectin was difficult to compare exactly with that of PHA-p.
